It all started with a small child who, being the youngest was always by his mother's side - especially when she was in the kitchen. Grew up knowing what good home-cooked Lebanese food was all about. At a very tender age, he assimilated a lot of his mother's expertise and as the years drew on he was made aware of the revered traditions, the finer ingredients, the well-kept secrets of Middle Eastern cooking.
Therefore in spite of no formal training in the culinary arts, he now stands at the helm of TARBUSH. He would like to think of himself as a Chef not by profession but rather by passion. And if one may have wonderful chance of sampling his creation, one cannot help but be overwhelmed by the robust interplay of flavors and textures.
Now qualifying as one of Kuala Lumpur 's best dining experience, TARBUSH, actually had extremely humble beginnings.
In 1998, a small sandwich bar in Ampang Point serving sharwarma and other small bites to the mall goers. Even then, Tarbush dedication to using only the freshest and finest ingredients was paramount.
2001 saw the opening of TARBUSH Bukit Bintang. Strategically and conveniently located in the heart of the Golden Triangle, the casual dining outlet originally occupied the ground floor. Following the success of their first business endeavor, TARBUSH then expanded next door and opened up the mezzanine. Today, this branch can comfortably seat 180 people.
Reminiscent of the past, the next move for TARBUSH in 2005 was a sandwich stall at KLCC's Food Court . And almost right after their opening, Tarbush embarked on their first fine dining restaurant last June 15. The invitation to open a restaurant at Starhill Feast Village was extended only to a few - TARBUSH being one of them.
It has been said that the heart of TARBUSH' incredible success and longevity is a man's passion for what can be defined as accessible, authentic and fine Middle Eastern cuisine. A visit to the newly opened TARBUSH at Starhill is proud testament this fact.
Upon stepping into the foyer, one cannot help but notice the meticulous attention to detail that has been given and the ambiance. The rich dark wood cut-out walls, the suspended multi-color lamps, the tastefully-varied seating and the fresh flower arrangements on every table seems to be a wonderful foreshadowing of the dining experience that is to come.
